Checkers Athletic Club Tom Donnelly Scholarship

Tom Donnelly was a central figure in Buffalo's running community for decades.
He was president of Checkers Athletic Club, Western New York Running Hall of Fame, and was the race director for the Buffalo Marathon and Turkey Trot.
An accomplished runner, he ran many marathons, including a personal best race where he finished in 2 hours, 35 minutes.
While he passed away way too early in 2014, his achievement and leadership in running was remarkable, and it is in his spirit that this award is offered.

Each year the Checkers Athletic Club will award two $500 scholarship grants to Section 6 Track and Field or Cross Country athletes who have distinguished themselves through their: volunteer activities within our community; academic achievement; and commitment to personal fitness.
All applicants should have a record of volunteer service to the community. In order to qualify for consideration for one of these awards, an applicant must be a graduating high school senior, and the holder of at least a B average (80%) throughout high school.
Anyone who wishes to be considered for one of these awards should provide the information requested below and submit this form along with the following:
